Christmas- The True Meaning

Christmas- my favourite holiday season of the whole year and has been since childhood for lots of reasons from seeing all the houses lit up with the decorations to going ice skating and as time has gone on, I have found that the appreciation for Christmas expands for many different reasons.
Even though Christmas can be a wonderful season, it can be difficult for many people around the world, and not just because of COVID. The festive season can bring up lots of overwhelming feelings for people going through anxiety, depression, loneliness, stress, financial worries, not being able to family, spending their first Christmas without a loved one or spending their last Christmas with them. Please know that there is no right or wrong way to feel if you're going through these difficult feelings and that it is okay to not be in the same level of spirits as others.
One thing that I have found helps and has made me appreciate Christmas a lot more as an adult is helping out with local charities like The Salvation Army and Crisis U.K. over the last two years with their Christmas appeals, delivering hampers to the supporters of these amazing charities and getting to chat to the people receiving the hampers. The feeling that comes after making those deliveries and seeing their faces when they receive their hampers is really great and makes you feel like you have made a contribution however big or small to how happy they feel afterwards.
As we come towards the end of another strange year, please know that it is okay if you are struggling mentally or emotionally, you need time alone or need to set boundaries. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas whatever you are doing and an even better 2022. Merry Christmas!! 💙💙💙
